Englisch The fairy tales broadcast by the Czech Television on Christmas Day were nothing much. So, I tried the Slovak Television and behold, I stumbled upon this epic fairy tale called Thomas and the Falcon King. It’s a pity, however, that given how epic it’s trying to look it seems incredibly TV-like. The locations are without a doubt wonderful, but the story is a little weaker. And the acting? I’m still wondering if the Slovak to Czech and Czech to Slovak dubbing of the film didn’t do more harm than good. I looked at it in Slovak and Jiří Langmajer sounded awfully weird. ()

Englisch A fairytale that would love to be an epic, but the poor visuals and absolutely humdrum and almost boring directing won’t allow it. And let’s face it, not even the screenplay or the actors are worth a red cent in the end. For morning viewing at the weekend, though, this is ideal, because it isn’t actively unbearable, it’s simply absolutely superfluous. ()
