After the fall of the communist regime, the Czech Republic was one of the most polluted European countries. How did the Czech landscape and soil, whose riches keep us alive, change over thirty years? Land upkeep should be our priority. Its characteristics determine the quality of food, water, and its sufficiency. However, we currently have degraded soil. Czech meadows and pastures have given in to giant stretches of non-ecologically grown crops. Due to immense degradation, soil turns into desert. The solution could be small farmers, who care for their soil thriftly and replenish its nutrients. They are still too few, and we are starting to lose the fight with a different impending pandemic—hunger. (Academia Film Olomouc)
