Jim Hanson lebt als Rancher im US-mexikanischen Grenzgebiet Arizonas. Er hat schon bessere Zeiten gesehen. Seine Frau ist vor kurzem gestorben und die Bank will seine Ranch verkaufen. Von einem Tag auf den anderen wird sein zurückgezogenes Leben auf den Kopf gestellt, als er Zeuge wird, wie eine Mutter (Teresa Ruiz) und ihr Sohn (Jacob Perez) versuchen, verfolgt vom mexikanischen Kartell, illegal über die Grenze zu flüchten. Bei einem Schusswechsel stirbt die Mutter und Jim nimmt sich widerstrebend des kleinen Miguel an. Mit dem brutalen Kartellboss Mauricio (Juan Pablo Raba) und korrupten Cops auf den Fersen, beginnt das ungleiche Duo eine Verfolgungsjagd quer durchs Land. Stück für Stück nähern sich der schweigsame Rancher und der Junge an und Jim schreckt vor nichts zurück, um sein Versprechen zu halten und den Jungen in Sicherheit zu bringen. (Leonine)

The grey hair and wrinkles are increasing, but they look good on Liam and he certainly knows how to age gracefully. It's not the classic Neeson action vehicle that people were probably expecting, more like a human, sober story of an aging marine, spiced up with a bit of shooting in two scenes, and with some of the clichés I don't like so much (talking to the bad guy) coming in towards the end. A pretty pleasant two hours, but I’ll probably forget about it in a month.

Weak. It's funny that suddenly people are complaining about a lack of action, if it were present from beginning to end, they would complain about the lack of a story, unfortunately these two things rarely go together, so it's disappointing that the director chose, unfortunately for me, the less attractive option. It's okay for killing a boring Sunday afternoon, Liam Neeson still has enough charisma to annoy me, but his joints obviously don't work well anymore and the cartel killers didn't inspire much respect. 5/10.
