The notorious melodrama of the first half and the overblown shootout of the second half are at each other's throats in a battle for a living minimum of mutual symbiosis. In the end, sadly, they both lose. Hark Tsui may not be a complete routinist, but the soap opera flows like sugary syrup and the rattling guns are just a boring jumble of slow-motion shots desperately begging for a touch of creativity. Also, the whole thing takes two hours. God.
