El viaje de Juana

For years, Juana was a drug addict who just wandered about. Today, she has found a job and new hope at the NACE organisation (Niños Anónimos Con Esperanza). Her little daughter suffers most under Juana’s depressions, which repeatedly caused Juana to stay away from home for days. In those cases, she was found totally stoned by her father, with whom she has a complex relationship. Not only was she beaten by him in her youth, he also thrashes her daughter. Juana loves her with heart and soul, but for a long time she was unable to take care of her. Juana’s parents are deeply worried, but refuse to lift a finger to help her. By means of interviews with all these people, the picture emerges of a tragic, powerless family. (International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam)
