Adam lives with his mother, who is persecuted by the system, and together they are waiting for his father, who fought in World War II and has not been seen since. Although they receive letters from him, Adam suspects someone else might be sending them. All the same Adam does not lose hope and dreams of his father’s return, or more precisely of his landing on the school playground in his Spitfire as a war hero.
