Que levante la mano la guitarra owes its existence to the intimate and long-time friendship between director Victor Casaus and singer/composer Silvio Rodriguez, who is portrayed in this documentary. Rodriguez is considered to be the major representative of the new Latin-American song. The film includes archive footage and pictures that are shown for the first time. Songs, interviews, and dialogues present Rodriguez' work as being innovative and committed.
