Brandaris Race

Brandaris Race is generally regarded as the largest sailing event for classic sailing ships in The Netherlands. Herman Brandsma was the creator and organizer of this unadulterated piece of Dutch sailing glory. He started the first regatta to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the Brandaris lighthouse on Terschelling in 1994. Twenty years later, this race has become a sailing event of unparalleled beauty. 80 sailingships with 2,000 crewmembers on boards battle each other as well as the elements every year. Thanks to the weather and strong wind that year we had opportunity to shoot the very fastest Brandaris Race ever including dramatic sail-back to homeport.
