Filmmaker Krzysztof Wierzbicki started his career in the early seventies as an assistant to Krzysztof Kieslowski. This resulted in a friendship between these two men, which was abruptly ended when Kieslowski died in early 1996. In Krzysztof Kieslowski: I'm So-So Wierzbicki portrays Kieslowski, describing not only his artistic qualities, but also illuminating his personal life. Kieslowski had always kept the latter aspect out of the public eye. Wierzbicki: "Everybody knows him as a filmdirector. Everyone knows his artistic biography, but people know little of him as a human being. He is a fantastic man and this project gave his old film team an opportunity to work again".
