Basil Fawlty ist ein gestresster Hotelmanager, dessen Leben durch seine ständig nörgelnde Frau, Wirtschaftskontrolleure, Erpressungsversuche oder tote Gäste gestört wird. Er ist hypernervös, überreizt, arrogant und sadistisch. Sybil ist seine bissige Ehefrau.
