With Zintuigen zijn de Voetjes van de Ziel Brigit Hillenius made an intimate portrait of her father, writer/biologist Dick Hillenius, who died in 1987. In conversations with people who were close to him, Dick emerges as a contagious storyteller and a strong personality, who sometimes unintentionally overshadowed others. But Dick'sdeath has left a great emptiness. Brigit takes her camera to Madagascar, for example, to capture on film what her father saw on his travels. But she fails in finding the same enchantment in the forest as there was in his stories. While shooting, she reaches the conclusion that her father's death marks the beginning of her career as an independent filmmaker. "Here I can represent with my camera the legacy of his way of looking. In that way, he will stay with me". (International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam)
