Projectionist Mitch is showing the last film before the cinema is turned into a digital multiplex. Through the projection window, he sees something unexpected on the screen – himself and a beautiful girl. He sets off to find her in the streets of the city that is home to film – Los Angeles. This nostalgic requiem to true cinema was made by the Iranian director and tireless experimenter Amir Naderi. (Febiofest)

Englisch I've been warned several times to stay away from Iranian films, but as the naive cinephile that I am, it didn't stop me. Instead, I let this pretentious mess steal an hour and a half of my life. This so-called nostalgic requiem for real cinema fails on all its meta fronts. I honestly have no idea who the target audience is for this garbage. Usually, even overindulgent, tedious arthouse films can at least capture my interest with their form or interesting cinematography. But here, there was nothing to pull me out of my boredom. The disgustingly cheap-looking digital camera work and weak actors did nothing to honor classic Hollywood. I couldn't even tell you what it was about; I spent more time trying not to fall asleep than following the plot. Despite this awful experience, I'm not ready to give up on Iranian filmmakers altogether, as I don't like to generalize. However, I'll definitely add Naderi to my blacklist — I never want to endure anything like this again. ()
