We Don't Play Golf Here

This documentary details corporate incursions in traditional communities of Mexico. In Tepoztlán, residents oppose the building of a country club and golf course (meant to replace soccer with the corporate “sport” of golf). In another story, two “ecological peasants” describe how Mexican army personnel tortured them because they tried to stop Boise Cascade from cutting down forests in Guerrero. Tijuana residents describe how the US owner of a battery recycling plant allowed dangerous chemicals to seep into their neighborhood. These cinematic essays probe the essence of the new economic disorder in the clash between corporate culture and the Third World. (Morelia International Film Festival)
