Dirk Gentlys holistische Detektei (2016)

Englisch I really enjoyed both seasons, the second one even slightly more. Dirk Gently was a bit sidelined in it, which clearly benefited the story. My favorite character all along was Bart, so I was a little disappointed that she didn't get as much screen time in Season 2. In any case, the creators did a great job with the fictional realm of Wendimoor, which gave the whole series an even crazier vibe. A great show, I'm sorry it’s over. ()

Season 1 (2016) (S01)

Englisch Comedy/sci-fi? Why isn’t mystery listed among the genres? It would fit perfectly. I was hesitant about watching the series and it turned out to be a big mistake. The series features plenty of action, time travel, transmigration of souls, and supernatural abilities. Last but not least, a great deal of intelligent humor. I had an amazing time, and I hope Bart croaks at me again in the second season. ()

Ursache und Wirkung (2016) (S01E01)

Englisch The first episode surprised me mainly because the presence of Elijah Wood in the series doesn't bother me at all, even though he has been getting on my nerves since everything was flooded. The plot seems interesting and funny to me, although it's true that nothing makes sense to me yet, because new questions are constantly being asked and not a single answer is given. But that's not a problem, I love Lynch's films and especially the Twin Peaks series, so I understand that owls are not what they seem. ()

Das Todeslabyrinth (2016) (S01E04)

Englisch So it's clear now, I'm enjoying the series more and more, the trap system really got me, I was laughing so hard I almost cried, those two troublemakers would probably never finish Resident. I was annoyed by one thing, as soon as I wrote in the previous comment that Bart is my favorite character, the next episode completely does without her. That's unfair and unsportsmanlike. ()

Sehr erectus (2016) (S01E05)

Englisch Well, hooray, Bart and Ken are back, so I can be satisfied. Another great character is the amazing sergeant Friedkin, and the Inkubus project is perfection itself, it's just a shame about Agent Fisher/Detective Zimmerfield and his expressive eyebrows. The plot was entertaining and gripping enough even in the fifth episode, so I'm looking forward to what comes next. ()

Die ganze Sache (2016) (S01E06)

Englisch The sixth episode brings a torrent of questions from previous parts finally revealing a whole series of answers and the realization that Bart unexpectedly has a low pain threshold. Actually, I have nothing to criticize, the story has pace, tension, a decent amount of action, excellent humor, and enough crazy ideas to hold my attention firmly. ()

Bewaffnete Seele (2016) (S01E07)

Englisch Once again, complete satisfaction, crazy journeys over time, people running around so fast that they often see each other from behind, Patrick Spring is absolutely luxurious, but my question is: "Where is Bart?". Her chattering was greatly missed. ()

Season 2 (2017) (S02)

Englisch Season 2 was a pleasure to watch. I had even more fun than with the first season which was already great. True, there was no migration of souls this time. Instead the creators came up with the crayon realm of Wendimoor and its inhabitants, which was a real treat. The story was so fast-paced that I could barely keep up, the humor was perfect, there was plenty of great action. Bart was still there, joined by Alan Tudyk this time in the role of Mr. Priest. Fantastic! ()

Weltraumhase (2017) (S02E01)

Englisch I had some worries about the second season, but the opening episode quickly put me at ease. There was no drop in quality, and Bart is still around, so I'm happy. The creators did a great job continuing the story just two months after the first season ended. ()

Fans feuchter Kreise (2017) (S02E02)

Englisch The second episode was just as great as the first. The creators have kept the high bar set by the first season, continuing to unravel an absolutely bizarre story. It felt like Dorothy was definitely not in Kansas anymore. I'm really enjoying the character of Suzie, and now Mr. Priest has joined the scene... ()

Zwei gebrochene Finger (2017) (S02E03)

Englisch The show is on the right track. The third episode maintained (and possibly even exceeded) the quality of the previous ones, and I'm still having a blast. The story is fantastic, but it's the characters and their casting that truly shine. I was thrilled to see Bart return after a brief absence. Mr. Priest and Tina are great additions to the lineup, so I can overlook the fact that there's no one who can quite raise an eyebrow quite like Dirk. ()

Das Haus im Haus (2017) (S02E04)

Englisch The story keeps delivering, maintaining a vibe that feels like a nod to The Wizard of Oz, but Dirk's tumble into the "rabbit hole" gave off some serious Alice in Wonderland vibes! Every episode of this season so far has had great atmosphere, a delightfully bizarre plot, and top-notch humor. ()

Formen und Farben (2017) (S02E05)

Englisch Slightly weaker than the previous episode, but still great. I'm enjoying the second season even more than the first. It's definitely not a show where you can relax or let your mind wander; you have to stay fully engaged the entire time. ()

Girlpower (2017) (S02E06)

Englisch Another fantastic episode. The wake-up scene after the wild night was hilarious, and Suzie was on point. It’s a bit exhausting having to stay so alert all the time, but thankfully, there's the pause button. Without it, I'd miss a lot of details due to all the laughing fits. ()

Das ist nicht Miami (2017) (S02E07)

Englisch I absolutely love Douglas Adams' humor — no surprise since he wrote for Monty Python — and this episode let me fully enjoy it again. While the plot wasn't as packed with events as I've come to expect, the generous dose of humor more than made up for it. ()

Eine Kleine, mit schwarzen Haaren (2017) (S02E08)

Englisch At first, I wasn't too thrilled with the crayon world of Wendimoor, but it quickly grew on me, and now I really look forward to it. I especially loved their version of the guillotine — I'll never handle scissors carelessly again. The insightful conversation with Bob was also a highlight. ()

Schwierigkeiten sind schlecht (2017) (S02E09)

Englisch Except for the overly warm reunion between Panto and Silas, this episode was another fantastic watch. Whenever Wendimoor is featured, I'm reminded of Stephen King's (or rather Richard Bachman's) "The Regulators." Just like in the series, the book shows that crayons in children's hands can pose a deadly threat. ()

Nette Jacke (2017) (S02E10)

Englisch Turns out the creators can completely fool me without using any new tricks. In the final episode of the first season, they disgusted me with an overly sweet (almost) ending, only to thrill me with a fantastic twist right after. Now, they've pulled the same stunt on me again. Everything seemed happy and sweet until that final conversation between Bart and Ken... ()
