Die Astronauten Glenn (Nick Adams) und Fuji (Akira Takarada) sollen den Planeten Alpha 707 erkunden. Von “Nummer 1”, dem Anführer der Alphas, erfahren sie, daß die wissenschaftlich überlegenen Alpha-Bewohner von dem dreiköpfigen geflügelten Riesenreptil Gidorra bedroht werden. Glenn und Fuji werden von den Alphas gebeten, ihnen die Ungeheuer Godzilla und Radon zu überlassen, um sich mit deren Hilfe von der Herrschaft Gidorras zu befreien. Nachdem der Weltsicherheitsrat eingewilligt hat, schaffen die Alphas die beiden Monster auf ihren Planeten. Nun aber enthüllen sich die wahren Absichten: Um zu überleben, benötigen sie dringend das irdische Wasser und wollen mit drei Monstern ausgerüstet, die Erde erobern. 7) GODZILLA vs MONSTER ZERO – ORIGINAL SHOWA SERIES 1954-1974. Godzilla in a slightly sci-fi vein. This time, almost all the plot revolves around aliens from Planet X (located near Jupiter) who are being terrorized by King Ghidorah (Monster Zero), a three-headed dragon that shoots rays and destroys everything in its path. In exchange for the instructions for a superdrug for all diseases, the Earthlings "lend" Godzilla and Rodan to the aliens to help them fight a great "historical" battle. Said battle consists of comically throwing rocks at each other, Ghidorah is defeated and Godzilla can start the dance of victory (!). If you're wondering what a dance like that looks like, well: Godzilla jumps, crosses his legs in one jump, one hand slams into his stomach, the other goes to his temple, like a soldier saluting, and on the second jump, the legs and arms switch sides, etc. There are a few more twists and turns in the plot, and eventually the inventor Tetsuo and his device whose sounds paralyze the aliens come into play. If destroying aliens with unpleasant sounds reminds you of something, then yes, you're right: Tim Burton's Mars Attack. All in all: not enough Godzilla, too many aliens and less fun on the creators account.

Ein Unsinn mit großen Echsen. Auf seine eigene Art und Weise ist der Film aber unterhaltsam. Er hat entzückende Tricks und einen berauschenden Schund-Duft, der das mit den Zuschauer*innen nur gut meint. Die ernste Stimmung des Originals ist nämlich futsch, Godzilla ist cool, wenn er den Siegestanz auf dem Planeten X tanzt, der betäubte Radon strampelt beim Hinfallen mit den Beinen wie ein verärgertes Kind, die geschlagenen Außerirdischen ziehen sich in die Zukunft zurück und ein Stück Japan muss sich wieder vom unerwünschten Besuch einer schreienden Abrissgruppe erholen. Im Hinblick darauf, wie blöd der Film ist, wurde er wirklich gut aufgenommen. Der vierte Stern gehört der Musik von Ifukube, die wieder toll ist.

Although I didn't believe it much, "Godzilla - Attack from the Unknown" is another good kaiju film directed by Honda in the 60s. The connection with an extraterrestrial civilization is once again functional, plus there are excellent effects, if I disregard the people in costumes. From this perspective, I really enjoyed it, plus it also has some romantic plot and a lot of destruction, simply everything that a kaiju film should have.
