Dr. Serena Wolfe thinks small talk and feelings are overrated. As a gifted microbiologist whose only concern is for her bacteria samples, she has little time for photos of your sniveling kid or news that you found your birth mother. She has no qualms about correcting grammar during dirty talk or teaching a 5-year-old to hit below the belt and would rather just be left alone. But when Serena's lack of tact possibly causes the death of her work nemesis, her boss gives her an ultimatum: work with a sensitivity coach or get a pink slip. In bounces Caroline, as bubbly and sensitive as Serena is acerbic and quick-tempered. Tasked with shadowing Serena in and outside of the science lab, Caroline finds herself spending more and more time with her abrasive client and less time with her wife and daughter at home. After many crushed stress balls, a bit of bonding over small breakthroughs like not yelling at complete strangers, and a drunken night of movie-watching, Serena and Caroline realize that they both have a lot to learn about themselves...and that there might be something more to their professional relationship. With an upbeat soundtrack featuring the B-52s and Tegan and Sara to match its quick wit and tempo, Sensitivity Training is a fun and infectious study of human interaction.
