Yo

In his mother's restaurant, when they ask how old he is, Yo starts to count on his fingers all the way to fifteen. His burly body is actually older, but his mind is childlike and corresponds neither with his age nor his physical strength. Yo is forced to start growing up when a lover moves in with his idolised mother. He meets a little girl with whom he discovers a world yet unseen, and faces desires of the male universe he doesn't know how to handle. The film unfolds in a tempo copying its taciturn protagonist, creating a static mosaic of the Mexican countryside where a tragic twist lurks under the surface. The film is inspired by a short story by French Nobel Prize winner, J. M. G. Le Clézio. (Febiofest)
