A young lawyer, Dr. Sebesi Gáspár, in his last despair contracts a nominal marriage, so that he can celebrate his real wedding with his fiancée, Csibi. Fate ties him to Kelemen Klári, Csibi's bitter spinster boss. They hate one another, but when on her country estate Gáspár gets sick, hatred and despise turn into love and compassion. Csibi's appearance breaks up the almost harmonic relationship. Klári hastens the divorce proceedings to re-establish the couple's engagement. After the divorce, however, Gáspár proposes to Klári again, this time not for interest but for sincere emotions. (Verleiher-Text)
