Im Dorf der unbesiegbaren Gallier geht es dieser Tage sehr ruhig zu, die Dinge nehmen ihren gewohnten Lauf und selbst die Römer scheinen ihre Eroberungsphantasien fürs Erste begraben zu haben. Wäre da nicht die Liebe, denn Obelix hat sich unsterblich in die wunderschöne Falbala verguckt und schmachtet jede Sekunde nach ihr. Doch dann geschieht das Unglaubliche: Die Römer nehmen Falbala gefangen, um sie an Cäsars Geburtstag den Löwen im Circus Maximus zum Fraß vorzuwerfen. Das können Asterix und Obelix natürlich nicht geschehen lassen, und so machen sich die beiden Freunde gemeinsam mit Hund Idefix auf nach nach Rom, um Cäsar eine ganz besonderre Geburtstagsüberraschung zu machen... It's a bit better, but in my opinion what I wrote about Asterix the Gaul still applies: Asterix is better to read than to watch. Some of my friends, also Asterix fans, have the same opinion, so I hope I'm not being too subjective. The books are brilliant, the animated versions are botched, and Goscinny and Uderzo have disowned them.

“Dear boys..." Asterix and Obelix put a system of small “favors" into practice in their second best film adventure, this time in a hybrid based on several different instalments of the comic book at once. Although it still remains in a rather infantile style compared to the original comic books, but as a kid this and The Great Cheese Conspiracy were my favorite cartoons of all, so I forgive it any glitches. Of course, I am happy to add that it didn’t have many glitches anyhow.

Another one of those stories that I quite like and find entertaining. The whole story is essentially just a journey towards rescue, but in the drawing, you can see how even in animated films, it evolved and is different from the previous one, moreover, it utilizes - to the benefit of the matter - different kinds of characters. One of the better Asterix episodes.
