Keeping it in the Royal Family

On 2 June 2013 Queen Elizabeth II of England celebrated the 60th anniversary of her coronation. The roots of the British royal family originally lay in central Germany, more specifically in the house of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. But the significance of this German ducal family for European aristocracy goes much further. An examination of the Queen's kinship relations reveals genealogical connections with all the European monarchies still in existence.
