The Longest Kiss

In 2011, Sudan held a referendum that allowed the country to split into two parts: the mainly Christian south and the Muslim north, which in recent years has become increasingly radicalised. Against the backdrop of this historic event, director Alexandra Sicotte-Levesque tells the story of six young Sudanese trying to understand and define their national identity. The gloomy atmosphere of Khartoum, the refugee camps, and Juba – the new capital of South Sudan – are the scenes of dramas both great and commonplace about love, desire and dreams of a better life.
