The ancient, idyllic city of Tarusa, lies 140 kilometers east of Moscow. In Tarusa, hidden within a lush garden, there is the house of an elderly couple: a daughter of the great poet Arseni Tarkovski and a sister of the great film director Andrei, Marina and Alexandr Gordon, a close friend to Andrei. They let the camera in, to follow their discussions and their daily life; the mundane moments such as preparing of the mushrooms as well as the festive – the magical night of a New Year's Eve. Marina Tarkovskaja has been a cohesive force inside the significant family of artists, which was torn apart by wars and inner conflicts. The strong personalities of the artists escaped to their own creativities and Marina took care of the everyday life in difficult conditions. Today she fosters the memories of her close ones. Painful father-daughter relationship and the closeness of Andrei, create a nostalgic aura to the film, which is colored by the esprit of Marina and the playfulness of Alexandr.
