Kahdeksan surmanluotia

This Finnish miniseries follows the suffering of an individual addicted to alcohol. Mikko Niskanen, the director and scriptwriter, based this strong story on a real event in 1969, when Pasi, a farmer, shot four policemen. The interviews with the perpetrator, which the director did in prison, served as the source for the script. Using flashbacks, the four episodes follow the events leading up to the tragic shooting. Highly dismal scenes slowly and mercilessly depict alcohol addiction and harshly illustrate its impact on the gradual disintegration of personality. In each episode, the viewer witnesses the deeper and deeper downfall of the main character who drags the rest of his family down as well. (Febiofest)
