"Our profession is photography" - sings and advertises Sebő, the herald of a group of travelling photographers, knocking at the doors of village houses. The photographer takes the photos as they have been ordered, the retoucher manages the business, and if people want a rosier picture than the harsh reality of their own faces is he is ready to retouch the photos. And most people choose this option: the photographer is vainly trying to persuade them to choose the true and more telling pictures. Yet, a rich material of the past gets revealed from behind the scenes of the locals' lives: while the retoucher is working on the pictures, the photographer is digging deep in the thirty-odd years old life stories and which "can as well be framed and put on the wall". An old lady, Mrs. Nyerges recalls the tragedy of her husband's murdered daughters, too. The picture taken of the murderous mother turns up as well. (Verleiher-Text)
