L'ultimo terrestre

The feature debut of the Italian cartoonist, Gipi, was first presented at the IFF in Venice, where it won the award for the Best First Film. It is based on a sci-fi graphic novel by Giaconda Monti. The clash of everyday life and sci-fi elements results in black humor and absurdity. Extraterrestrial ambassadors prepare the Earth for the arrival of their civilization in the following week. The Earthlings react to the unusual situation in different ways; most of them, including the unsightly and downtrodden protagonist, Luca, just carry on with their routine lives full of disillusions and frustrations from the economic crisis.
