Als die Japaner den Marinestützpunkt Pearl Harbor bombardieren, können die Männer auf den Patrouillenbooten der Navy zeigen, was in ihren kleinen Schiffen steckt. Die Philippinen sind durch die Blockade abgeschnitten, und die Patrouillenboote schmuggeln sich durch die von den Japanern kontrollierten Gewässer in die Subic-Bucht, um hochrangige Offiziere von den schwer bedrängten Inseln zu evakuieren. “Schnellboote vor Bataan” zeigt auf bewegende Weise, wie die Männer im Team an ihrem gemeinsamen Ziel arbeiten. For its time, it's an incredibly well-made film in terms of direction and the scenes it contains. The naval battle is very good. Moreover, that authentic masculine atmosphere is also well captured. Even though it's a patriotic film, it's not overly nationalistic to the point of making you cringe. Still, every now and then you'll get the feeling that nothing is actually happening.
