Bill Maher, host of TV's POLITICALLY INCORRECT and REAL TIME WITH BILL MAHER, has never been afraid to speak his mind. This standup performance, filmed in March 2005, finds him so embarrassed by the state of American politics that he wishes he could pass for Swiss. "Why do we always have to be the stupid country?" asks the outspoken comic, who also points out that, in the years since 9/11, "the only person fired is me." Maher takes on a wide range of topics that include presidential politics, gay marriage, morality and "values," legalized marijuana, and rap lyrics. Ruffling plenty of feathers--as usual--Maher's ranting is not just controversial but singularly insightful and witty. (Verleiher-Text)
