(Verleiher-Text)

IT Crowd (2006)

Englisch I thoroughly enjoyed the TV series for three seasons, and while the fourth season didn't quite match up, I can't deny that I had an amazing time overall. The trio in the basement at Reynholm Industries really grew on me. My chuckles often escalated into full-blown laughter, a clear testament to the creators' excellent work. Beyond just entertainment, I gained some unexpected knowledge. Now, I know for a fact that you can't access the without a browser, and certain words are off-limits for a Google search. I also know what the internet looks like, and that it's stored in Big Ben. / Lesson learned: Don't be afraid of nerds, they're quite endearing. ()

Season 1 (2006) (S01)

Englisch I enjoyed this show just like I did when I first watched it fifteen years ago. So, you could say it's timeless for me (just like Monty Python's Flying Circus, Fawlty Towers, or Blackadder). I'm certainly a fan of British humor (at least of what it used to be). / Lesson learned: Yes, even older shows have their charm. ()

Schnee von gestern (2006) (S01E01)

Englisch So, it's been fifteen years already... the pilot episode of the series was definitely worth revisiting. It's rare for the creators of a comedy series to deliver such a strong dose of humor right from the first episode; every important character had their lines perfectly delivered, and even one of the supporting characters caused me to burst into laughter. / Lesson learned: Don't go to a fair unescorted. Safety first! ()

Die Stressmaschine (2006) (S01E02)

Englisch An obvious five stars. How did they manage to pack so many quality moments into less than thirty minutes? It had everything: shoes, anti-stress training, fire, a showdown between a woman and Godzilla, serious injuries, and empathetic Denholm Reynholm, who would undoubtedly have a successful career in any line of work where torture is used. All of that made in Britain. / Lesson learned: If Cinderella's glass slipper doesn't fit, push harder!!! ()

Roy, der Mistkerl (2006) (S01E03)

Englisch This episode took a different turn from the previous ones. Witnessing a geek delve into a social experiment was... quite unusual, to say the least. I thoroughly enjoyed both basic setups, and Katherine Parkinson's performance was a delight. Her delicate laughter is bound to haunt me at night for quite some time. / Lesson learned: Women want bastards because of their fathers. Not my words, Freud's. ()

Die verbotene Tür (2006) (S01E04)

Englisch The fourth episode had me in stitches. Richmond was absolutely fantastic, and I enjoyed his reminiscing about long-gone times. Anyway, it's terrible when someone shows up at your workplace willing to destroy the rainforest just to satisfy their curiosity. It's no use explaining it to these people, not even using sign language. / Lesson learned: Feeling down? Listen to Cradle of Filth, and Dani will get you out of it. ()

Die Super-Lüge (2006) (S01E05)

Englisch In the fifth episode, not much work was done. Instead, the focus was mostly on the intricate web of relationships among individuals of the Homo sapiens species (well, for the most part), and I thoroughly enjoyed it. There have certainly been moments in my life where Moss's brilliant lying skills would have been of great use to me, so I could fully relate. / Lesson learned: Always conduct basic research before going on a date. ()

Besuch von Tante Irma (2006) (S01E06)

Englisch The final episode of the first season didn't quite reach the heights of the previous five, so I gave it "only" four stars. It didn't leave as strong an impression on me overall, but it still had some incredibly funny moments and a perfectly executed ending. So, I still thoroughly enjoyed it. I just wished it had even more humor. / Lesson learned: Society may try to convince me there are no differences between men and women, but I know better. ()

Season 2 (2007) (S02)

Englisch The second season took a bit of a turn. Computers were pushed aside, and the creators dove into politically incorrect territory. But, hey, it's still nothing compared to the episode which included instructions on how to destroy the internet!! / Lesson learned: If you're into workplace romance, maybe consider building a time machine. ()

Der Betriebsausflug (2007) (S02E01)

Englisch For me, it's one of the best episodes of this series. I can already picture the uproar if it were to be re-aired on the BBC. I assume it would be swiftly removed, banned, and ceremoniously set ablaze amidst the enthusiastic applause of self-proclaimed moralists, all in the name of the global trend of hypersensitivity. I found it hilarious back when my world was still okay, and it still tickles my funny bone even today. It's liberating to laugh without worrying about it being labeled as discrimination because, well, guess what? I'm disabled :-):-):-) / Lesson learned: It's weird how many members of minority groups seem to have a much better sense of humor and tolerance towards jokes aimed at them, compared to the protectors of their rights. ()

Wem die Stunde schlägt (2007) (S02E02)

Englisch Denholm Reynholm is dead, long live Douglas Reynholm! I'll miss Denholm; no one else can declare war or size up a new employee with a long, hard gaze as convincingly as he did. Nevertheless, his exit was spectacular and ranks among my favorite TV episode openings. The other events may have been somewhat overshadowed by that, but it didn't matter at all because I had a blast throughout. / Lesson learned: The pension fund can bring even titans of industry to their knees. ()

Moss und der Deutsche (2007) (S02E03)

Englisch The pace of the third episode in the second season wasn't exactly breathtaking, but I still had a great time. It brought back memories of the infamous German chef, Armin Maiwes. Jen's Soviet smoking breaks were hilarious, perfectly capturing the anti-smoking blitzkrieg in companies, and watching the intense anti-piracy battle was quite a thrill. / Lesson learned: Always take a shower before leaving the house. You never know who might want to cook with you. ()

Kein perfektes Dinner (2007) (S02E04)

Englisch It's kind of weird how the IT department staff barely even deals with computers. Initially, I thought it might be an issue, but now I'm actually excited about all the theater shows, dinner parties, and girls' night outs they get into. Had a blast. / Lesson learned: Relationship problems can be easily sorted out with the right mix of consoles. ()

Der Super-BH (2007) (S02E05)

Englisch I'm not saying that I didn't crack up during this episode, but truth be told, it was the weakest one so far. Moss, Roy, and Jen were on their A-game as usual, but there was this feeling that something didn't quite mesh, and it wasn't their fault. I blame the weak script, and the final scene clearly confirmed it. / Lesson learned: When you invent something that has the potential to set the world on fire, don't let the haters bring you down. ()

Der Zaubertrank (2007) (S02E06)

Englisch Towards the end of the second season, the creators finally owned up to the fact that computers weren't their real focus; instead, they were just unleashing their hidden sexual aggression. This time around, the viewer got the full blast – the episode was filled with men in their underwear, love potions, delicate women, and the debaucheries of the creepy Douglas Reynholm. / Lesson learned: Only get your medicine and magic potions from certified pharmacies. ()

Season 3 (2008) (S03)

Englisch Even in its third season, the show managed to keep me hooked. While the opening episode didn't exactly blow me away, and the final one annoyed me with its implementation of fake morality, the four solid episodes in between truly entertained and enlightened me. They taught me how to bluff my way into fitting in with real men, showed me what the internet looks like, taught me how to survive as a homeless person, and shed light on why people are always glued to screens in restaurants and at parties. / Lesson learned: Think for yourself and don't become part of the herd. Well, it's probably a bit late for that, this was 2008, right? ()

Der Alptraum-Handwerker (2008) (S03E01)

Englisch Okay, the kick-off to the fourth season didn't exactly have me in stitches, despite Douglas Reynholm giving it his all. The thing was, I just couldn't get into the whole storyline with the builder, and Roy's banknotes didn't grab my attention (especially when they were just out of reach). The only one who managed to keep me entertained this time around, besides Douglas, was Moss and his run-in with bullying. / Lesson learned: Don't offend manual workers! You'll regret it! ()

Richtige Männer (2008) (S03E02)

Englisch While the first episode of this season left me a bit disappointed, the second one totally won me over. Admittedly, I'll never be a man enough to discuss yesterday's Premier League events with a genuine Cockney accent (East End speak isn't my forte, and my interest waned when legends like Ruud van Nistelrooy left while prima donnas like Cristiano Ronaldo and Arjen Robben emerged). Losing two hundred pounds in a poker night isn't my style, and heists aren't my thing either. But I thoroughly enjoyed watching Moss and Roy navigate through all of that, and the talentless magician was just the icing on the cake. / Lesson learned: You can bluff your way through almost anything – there are even manuals for that. ()

Die Triebhose (2008) (S03E03)

Englisch Not gonna lie, the third episode did have its weaker moments – they were there, and I'm not oblivious to them. But I just didn't care because I was too busy enjoying the antics of Jen, Moss, and Douglas Reynholm. However, this time around, it was Roy who stole the spotlight. And no, I'm not talking about his unintentional office exhibitionism, but rather his two-hour street suffering that felt like it lasted for years. / Lesson learned: Want to help save a life? Go with your gut, but brace yourself for the consequences. ()

Die Rede (2008) (S03E04)

Englisch This episode is hands down one of my favorites. Douglas' romance with the Iranian reporter was hilarious but the guys in the basement managed to top that. The prank they pulled on Jen and her enthusiastic speech about the Internet was the real highlight of the episode. / Lesson learned: Even with the world heading towards destruction, try not to panic. ()
