1708. Having been a looting Kurucz, Bornemissza János became the sergeant of Vak Bottyán. His arms are standing for patriotism and his love for Bíró Anna, the most beautiful girl in Réthe. He takes Starhemberg, the captured Labancz general personally to the reigning prince, thus he becomes the lieutenant of Rákóczi. In the meantime, Réthe gets to the Labancz due treason, and Anna is imprisoned. Suhajda, the pleasure-hunter liveried attendant believes, now he will be able to get the girl. Anna sends a message to János through her younger brother and following the call of the prisoners Rákóczi's army sets off. They meet the enemy at the river Vág. The triumph is celebrated together with the wedding of Anna and János. (Verleiher-Text)
