Pataky Elemér arrives in the capital as a victim in his niece's divorce case. Having to meet the lawyer dr. Orbói István is, however, an alibi in an effort to get away from his quarrelsome wife, and to have some fun at the same time. He takes the lawyer with him. Meanwhile, Mrs. Pataky arrives unexpectedly. The lawyer, embarrassed, introduces the lady in their company to Pataky's wife as his own wife, thinking the lady is Pataky's girl-friend. In fact, she is the bride's lawyer dr. Szikszay Erzsébet, who does a brilliant piece of acting posing as his wife. Much to her colleague's amazement, she invites the country couple over to dinner. By the time the dinner is over, the lawyer is already in love with his female colleague, and, following the advice of the happy couple, the other couple, now about to marry, agree to make it up.
