It is 1989, the Communist regime in Yugoslavia is slowly crumbling, and it is absolutely clear to everybody that this system is a complete failure. Ilko gets into an argument with his wife, so he decides to leave her and grabs the only thing which truly belongs to him – an empty suitcase. Yet the state police uses it as an absurd excuse to arrest him. Ilko is taken into custody without any reason and becomes a victim of Kafkaesque injustice. Exposing questions of faith and ethics, this existential drama by Stole Popov was internationally successful at the time of its production and even became Macedonia's entry for the Oscar nomination in 1992.
