The political divide over the last few years has created a toxic environment on social media and in real life. Friends and neighbors, some of whom have been life-long friends over 20 years or more, have "unfriended" each other in the social space due to their tribal ideologies and in inability to have civil discourse. Mattie has fallen victim to the gaslighting and personal attacks one too many times. She attempts reconciliation by inviting those friends to dinner and “cancels” them the old-fashioned way.
