Party, Pot und Poppen: Paul, Karen, Marcy, Jeff und Bert haben den College-Abschluss in der Tasche. Zur Belohnung starten sie zu einer einwöchigen Mega-Fete in einer einsamen Holzhütte. Doch was keiner der Teenager ahnt: im Gehölz lauert der Tod. Ein fleischfressender Virus hat sich in der Abgeschiedenheit eingenistet. Als ein infizierter Jäger Blut spuckend Hilfe beim Partyvölkchen sucht, geraten die Kids in Panik. Mit Knüppeln und Feuer schlagen sie den Kranken in die Flucht. Der schleppt sich als lebende Fackel zum Trinkwasser-Reservoir des Blockhauses. Das Verhängnis nimmt seinen Lauf. Karen trifft’s als erste. Und als der Rest Hilfe bei einheimischen Hinterwäldlern sucht, machen die zu allem Überfluss auch noch Jagd auf die kranke Gruppe. (Silverline Movie Channel)

Eine langweilige, ungewollt lächerliche Mischung aus Klischees und Wendungen aus vielen Horrorfilm-Klassikern. Die Autoren haben aber keine Leichtigkeit und sind nur hilflos und amateurhaft peinlich. In dem Film findet man weder Spannung noch Stimmung. Der schwächste Horrorfilm mit dem Thema "die Kinder fahren in eine Hütte". Auch Michael Bay's Texas Chainsaw Massacre ist besser.

A totally botched attempt at a horror film, without a shred of atmosphere and suspense, with poorly written and poorly acted characters. The whole gang at the cottage acts like a bunch of idiots, with not a single one of them thinking of going to the neighbour's car to get out of the infected area as quickly as possible. They have one human life on their conscience, their infected friend is slowly dying and the infection is spreading fast, yet one of the girls feels the inevitable need to shave her legs or fuck her boyfriend as if nothing is wrong. Some scenes (and the entire second half of the film) take on surrealistic proportions due to their stupidity and utter chaos. And there is no point in commenting on the strange and repeatedly set ending. The one * is for trying to take the stale genre of teen horror in a slightly original way, otherwise, ignore it.

My opinion about Eli Roth’s films is the exact opposite as the consensus. Cabin Fever is the one I liked the least – or rather, I almost didn’t like it at all. Those few disgusting scenes aren’t enough to pull the film out of the mud, while the almost parody ending buries it completely.
