Zatoichi gets entangled in a very interesting story that brings elements typical of Japan, but which haven't been so accentuated in this series before. It may also be due to the times. The fights are not so spectacular anymore, but they are still very good and powerful. Zatoichi isn't the only character that stands out in the story, which is a good thing.
