Since time immemorial, people have been fighting not only with each other but also with their miniature enemies—viruses. Over the last century, effective methods have been developed to protect the human body from viruses. While working at the WHO, worldwide renowned epidemiologist Karel Raška contributed to eradicating smallpox. Czechoslovakia as a vaccine power made its mark by eradicating polio. The current milestone in man vs. virus is the ability to use genetic virus modification to treat cancer and coronavirus. But 99% of microbes humanity faces are still unknown. The compilation film, featuring archival footage and animations, introduces modern experts on microbiology, immunology, virology, and biochemistry. (Academia Film Olomouc)
