Kashmira returns to her parents’ house in Uzbekistan after 17 years in prison abroad. While her mother welcomes her back home and some relatives are happy to see her, the men in the family, her father and two brothers, would rather have seen her stay away. As Kashmira attempts to rebuild her life, she is haunted by her past: her marriage to a foreigner, which alienated her from her family; and the murder of her husband.
