Garip, who comes from a village near Adana, is living in Erlangen since 1973. He never attended a school and taught himself to read and write. In Erlangen he runs the green grocer’s Merhaba for seven years. His Anatolia, his mother and his father, his childhood in the cottonfields and his new home in Erlangen – this is what Garip writes about in his poems, which have already been published in three collections.
