Nachtfalken (1981)

Englisch Sly in the last "pre-Rambo" movie, where he doesn't mow down enemies by the dozens, but instead tries to save people in need. It’s nothing but a B-movie that is not interesting in any way, and it gives me the feeling that Sly was going downhill at the time, having squandered his star potential in five years. Fortunately for him, and us, Rambo came the following year and returned him to the limelight.

Assassins - Die Killer (1995)

Englisch Decent fun for the late era of Stallone's work, those 132 minutes go by pretty fast. Sly is here again the way we like him, i.e. Mr. Stone-Face, Banderas, on the other hand, does the whole facial range, and I quite liked his nervous killer. But as a whole is not worthy of 4*, even if the authors had spared us of that stupid ending.

Cop Land (1997)

Englisch Sly looks good here with his beer belly, but that doesn’t make him a character actor, though at least he tries and I had no problem believing him in the role of an honest cop. Some of the great actors alongside him, on the other hand, don't try very hard, acting giant De Niro's performance is not very good. The story, corruption in the ranks of the police, is nothing original, nothing I haven't seen countless times in other films. Still, I can't say that I was bored, also thanks to the well-crafted conclusion. Mangold was just cutting his teeth in his second directorial venture, but even that was enough for a fairly pleasant movie.

Demolition Man (1993)

Englisch It’s silly but fun. Some scenes actually made me laugh. Good locations, nice costume design, a likeable Sandra and Wesley with his colourful hair is a villain that it’s impossible not to root for.

Vorhof zum Paradies (1978)

Englisch Sly’s directorial debut, and it’s not bad at all. Of course, if you're expecting Fellini, turn elsewhere, but the story of the brothers in the famous Hell's Kitchen has a good atmosphere, solid performances and avoids the usual clichés. Sly may be a bit repetitive in relation to Rocky, but that's something you can live with. I believe Stallone wanted to make films like this, but the wheels of commerce got the better of him. The question is whether that was a good or a bad thing for us viewers.

Next Friday (2000)

Englisch As Ice Cube says, this is a "real nigger movie!", you will only see one non-black actor in the entire film. Ice Cube self-produced a crazy comedy with his friends for his "brothers". And the result? It is really crazy, but most of the time you won't laugh too much unless you like fecal humor that involves farting all over the place. But there are some funny moments where I laughed, but they were so few that it's not really worth mentioning.

Patton - Rebell in Uniform (1970)

Englisch An absolutely superb wartime epic that captivates with stunning sets and George Scott as the controversial but capable General Patton, the mastermind behind the successful American campaign into the heart of Hitler's Berlin. For this role, Scott got an Oscar that he refused to accept. The film garnered six more golden statuettes, including motion picture and direction. It was shot in 70 mm panoramic format, in the cinema is 6*, on DVD 5*, and on the telly 4*.

Desperado (1995)

Englisch The first half is great, with one high-paced action set-piece after another. And Tarantino’s cameo with his joke is very good. But from the middle it starts to creak, the pace stutters and the only satisfying thing is the glimpses of Salma Hayek's cleavage.

Tango & Cash (1989)

Englisch Končalovský's low-budget attempt at an action comedy is a step backwards after his Oscar-winning Runaway Train, but it's surprisingly funny in places, with Russell and Stallone spouting wisecracks like they're on a treadmill and complementing each other perfectly. It's definitely one of the better Stallone pieces of the late 80s, when his career was slowly declining, before it was revived again with Cliffhanger.

French Connection II (1975)

Englisch Much weaker than the previous one. Still, the scene where Hackman kicks his drug habit is unforgettable. The rest is just average that you will soon forget.
