Nightwatch (1994)

Englisch it starts quite protracted and weird in a typically European fashion when it comes to the behaviour of the characters, by the end, however, it’s tense as hell. And on top of that, it has one of the most atmospheric hospitals in cinema history. Way above-par, no doubt.

El habitante incierto (2004)

Englisch A beautifully atmospheric and at times a pretty tense and unclassifiable film. Until about the middle, I didn’t have any complaints whatsoever, I hadn’t felt that tense in a long time, but then the plot goes in a completely different direction, which, despite the irrational behaviour of the protagonist, would have been fine if there was something that would explain it, like a twist. Unfortunately, there is no twist and the film closes with the most banal ending ever, which makes me feel that The Uninvited Guest is not a Lynchesque mystery that you have to put together piece by piece to gradually reveal its meaning, but actually just a film with a weird script lacking any hidden meaning – it’s just weird. Regardless, it’s worth watching, the tension in the first half is guaranteed.

Grauen um Jessica (1971)

Englisch When some users say that a film is boring, experience tells me that it’s quite likely that I will get bored too (at least when it comes to older horror). Surprisingly, that didn’t apply this time because, even though this film has a murderously slow pace, the stoned performance of Ms Lampert never stopped being fun. It’s not a great film by any means (I would say it’s not even horror, actually), but it has a fairly original atmosphere and you won’t spoil anything if you dedicate an hour and a half to it.

Im Blutrausch des Satans (1971)

Englisch Utterly uninteresting for modern standards. Sometimes I wish I could watch these forgotten films at the time they came out, I’d love to see how my opinion would change.

The Crazies – Fürchte Deinen Nächsten (2010)

Englisch To me, the remake of The Crazies has the bare minimum of what every good (above-par) horror film should have, the things that incline the successful/unsuccessful scale to the more pleasing side, which is certainly good, and something you can’t say about many representatives of the genre. The best thing about this film is that it’s not bad, the worst, in contrast, is that it’s not better. Fans will be happy, or rather, not pissed off. PS: I’m rounding up the 7/10 for certain scenes (there is a small highlight every fifteen minutes, I’m not exaggerating).

Das Grab der Ligeia (2009)

Englisch That was quite a piece of work, I’m an idiot for not letting the poster discourage me. The film feels every bit as artificial and constrained.

Pig (2010)

Englisch Adam Mason, I find all your films very unpleasant, but you’ve outdone yourself with this one. Pig is almost unwatchable and I regret the time I spent with it. Very close to Boo!

Cop Out – Geladen und entsichert (2010)

Englisch At first, all that constant shouting pissed me off, but then I got used to it. Cop Out is watchable, one-off entertainment that fizzles out very quickly. It’s best feature are the dialogues written by Kevin Smith, who basically directed it on demand and the result is an utterly derivative film that could be credited to any Nobody out there. It’s not bad or stupid, it’s just tragically uninteresting. I laughed only twice, it’s not bursting out with humour. Actually, it was considerably more fun when there was some action than when it was time to attempt a joke.

Easter Bunny, Kill! Kill! (2006)

Englisch Let’s put as many weirdos, maniacs and perverts as possible in one room, turn on the cameras to shoot whatever happens and we will be successful. Not with me, though.

Peacock (2010)

Englisch With such a nice premise and such a great cast, Lander could have tried to make something more ambitious. Cillian Murphy is very convincing as a madman, it’s a pity that the script forces him to do something uninteresting. Peacock is a small dose of depression and paranoia that can be rated negatively only with regards to the high expectations.
