The Day After Tomorrow (2004)
A timeless film. 16 years after its release, the subject is more relevant than ever.
Unbelievable (2019) (Serie)
Precise filmmaking of a true story. The development of the characters and the gradual evolution of the plot revealing the facts found was accompanied by great acting performances. My favorite Kaitlyn Dever is just perfect for these more depressing roles. The emergence of the fantastic Toni Collette in the third episode really kicked it up a notch and her strong characterization gave the plot a whole new dimension, which added to the subsequent gradation of the finale. Brilliantly crafted and flawlessly served right under the viewer's nose.
Mein Schatz, unsere Familie und ich (2008)
An awesome Christmas chiller with a surprising Oscar-winning cast. Perfect for the holiday season.
Joker (2019)
Probably the only movie I had a real problem to finish. Fantastic portrayal of one of the most terrifying villains of all time. All aspects of the story and its execution work perfectly. Joaquin gives a chilling performance. Precision work, but I'll probably never watch the film again.
Sag’s nicht weiter, Lieblin (2019)
A relaxing chill-out with the charming Alexandra Daddario. The plot is not dizzyingly complex or original, however, the familiar views of New York from the backdrop of Pebble Beach in Brooklyn, the cool atmosphere and the inspiring story from life, made me quite excited and I enjoyed the film :) Great for unwinding.
Dickste Freunde (2011)
Perhaps for the first time I was disappointed by the general rating here on Filmbooster (HAPPY!). The film is absolutely amazing. A fairly simple story that doesn't really develop in any major obvious way during the course of the journey, however, with the acting duo of Vince and Kevin in the lead roles and their great chemistry with each other, I had a great time. Cool atmosphere and the ending was absolutely brilliant. One of those slice of life films that just puts a smile on your face. :)
Wie Jodi über sich hinauswuchs (2019)
Sweet, friendly and inoffensive. I like high school movies in general. Interesting idea and nice production. However, it doesn't excel at anything, which is fine and perfect for a relaxing evening.
Drei Schritte zu dir (2019)
Soundtrack Review: We know Brian Tyler’s work mostly because of his iconic scores for blockbusters such is the series of The Avengers films, Fast & Furious series and other action epic films. It was very surprising to see his credits in a teenage drama film, and even more interesting to listen to how his unexpected collaboration with a quite unknown Breton Vivian turned out. Together, Brian and Breton managed to create a beautiful touching soundtrack full of incredible melodies performed by diverse instruments. From old school sounds and retro pads, to modern guitar supplemented by a nice clean soft piano. The soundtrack in this film just does what it is supposed to. It greatly emphasizes the emotions which we can feel through the film. It’s a sad story with some beautiful moments and a touch of love.
The Society (2019) (Serie)
The last episode underlined it beautifully. Of course, we've seen similar themes in quite a few film versions, but the TV series version from the high school environment somehow better evokes the atmosphere of the fact that the end of the world itself is not really the problem, but rather the human reaction and social conflicts to this event. Knowing how to get along, surviving as all for one. To make the right decisions. For me personally, a cool drama with a mysterious touch and great music. I look forward to the sequel.
November Criminals (2017)
An excellent atmospheric film with a relatively simple but perfectly crafted story. The acting duo of Chloe and Ansel fit perfectly. There's nothing else to add.
