Warlock (1959)

Englisch If it weren't so drawn out and the screenplay were tweaked a bit, it would be good. However, it lacked the necessary tension in this way, and individual characters tended to get lost, even though they had potential and, above all, great actors portraying them. Even the fights here don't come off as well as they could have. It’s too bad, it had more potential.

Wall Street (1987)

Englisch Good movie. A nice example of how capitalism infiltrates our nature and how it can destroy us. How we chase money without actually having a proper goal and without perceiving what is actually right and what is wrong. The actors in their roles are excellent and precise; it's a shame that Charlie didn't have more luck and more similar films. Although in his case, it wasn't just luck.

El callejón (2011)

Englisch The Spaniards and Colombians didn't come up with anything completely new or brilliantly innovative in horror. They came up with a horror that has a significant portion of its runtime with quite a good, claustrophobic atmosphere, where you feel like there's no escape. Blind Alley is a film that manages to tap into our fears, and thanks to its relaxed approach, it's a very enjoyable watch, which is somewhat underrated.

Unter Feinden - Walking With the Enemy (2013)

Englisch Another World War II film. Unfortunately, it's not anything else. Hungary also didn't have an easy situation during the Nazi occupation, and of course, ordinary people suffered the most from it. But it's the "ordinary" stories that don't work here. So the film is simply another war movie, nothing more. Events like this deserved better.

Das Mädchen Wadjda (2012)

Englisch It's a beautiful film about childhood dreams, how it's possible to fulfill them, and how some people will just stand in your way and want to destroy your childhood. All of this is further compounded by the fact that it takes place in a culture we don't understand, and we perceive it only as dangerous. A beautiful and beautifully moving film.

Waar (2013)

Englisch When it comes to action, it's not bad at all, and some moments can really draw you in. The story’s strength should lie in how it resonates with reality, but I couldn't help it; the characters featured here simply didn't entertain me, and I couldn't appreciate the strong message that the film should have conveyed.

Louis und seine verrückten Politessen (1982)

Englisch I give it at least an average rating, but more just for nostalgia. It's just not the same anymore. There's a lot of pushing the envelope here, but in reality, it's just not funny anymore. The whole story is so strange and doesn't really work; those girls are just there purely for decoration, and it didn't really have any other meaning. It's a shame; as a final farewell to a great comedian, it could have had a better script.

Voice from the Stone - Ruf aus dem Jenseits (2017)

Englisch In the end, it's actually a poignant, romantic, slightly erotic thriller that sometimes even tries to hint at having a slightly horror atmosphere, but only occasionally and really just lightly. The camera wants to tell us that Emilia Clarke is really interesting, but here she just isn't. Except for the nudity. And that's not enough, is it? She also does that elsewhere.

Paranormal Activity: Ghost Dimension (2015)

Englisch Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension doesn't offer anything that could truly save the series anymore; nothing is surprising, the atmosphere isn't particularly strong, it simply sticks to what has been there from the beginning because it works, and deviating too much from the style would disrupt the continuity of the whole series. It's not the pinnacle of the franchise, but it's not a significant downturn either. It simply played it safe, but the sure thing doesn't shine anymore.

Louis' unheimliche Begegnung mit den Außerirdischen (1979)

Englisch Points mainly for nostalgia because I remember loving this episode as a child, even though I didn't remember it was almost the last one. Sure, it doesn't have the same gusto now, years later, but it's still very funny in places. The music and sound background managed to get to me even after all these years and evoke a bit of nostalgia.
