Darren Aronofsky got the most out of his actors, but I don't think he got the most out of himself. This is an allegory that could have been made shorter, basically as an exercise, but he opted for two hours, which can be quite exhausting. Yes, it can make you feel depressed, which is indicative of certain qualities, but you may also want to scream while watching the film, as it is often shallow in its tone, which it tries to obscure through its artistry.

The atmosphere is good for a large part of the film, but Prey can disappoint in terms of its story, which is simply not strong enough to support the atmosphere. It ends up almost being a film that's boredom in disguise. So well disguised that for a while you'll even believe it's a really good horror film. In the end, it’s a rather mediocre horror film. Quite mediocre.

I have to say that I quite liked the eleventh season, which is the first time I’ve liked a season in a while. While it seemed like it might be a case of one of the brothers dying again or coming out the other side, it's not. Instead, the old characters return to kick the story up a notch, and they’re quite successful at it. It is bigger than the big evil, but that's to be expected, and for once, it's pretty tolerable. The finale works quite well in its grandeur, thanks to the interesting (and unexpected) interconnection of the characters' fates.

The Evil Within is definitely worth a watch, especially for those who don't mind the brutality that appears in horror films. Here the brutality builds up quite well, and it is wrapped in the anger of the main character, which you can feel the entire time. It is not a work that is cheerful, but it stands out all the better in its terror. It’s also really ugly in places, which surprised me, but in a good way.

Just Before Dawn is definitely a film that doesn't deserve to be forgotten, even if it's not generally ranked among the most shocking and memorable slasher films made in the 1980s. Yet the film is made well and has to be given credit for that. The film manages to please with its redneck poetics, but there are some pretty good and dangerous people. A successful return to the 80s.

I was definitely expecting more from this film, at least based on the reviews, the word of mouth and the audience reviews. But after it was over, I thought it was pretty obvious how this was going to end, so what's so bombastic about it? It's definitely a good subject, but they could have gleaned a whole lot more from it.

You could almost say that this is season nine all over again, except that this time it's not Sam who's in deep shit, it's Dean. It's really just a matter of how he gets out of the mess and who dies and possibly comes back and in what form. Fortunately, there are still episodes that don't directly develop the main line, and those remain the best. It's sad, but it's been obvious for a long time now that the main storyline has nowhere to go if it's still going to be done in the style of one of the brothers dying.

Ultimately, Restoration feels like an episode of Supernatural stretched out over many more minutes. Unfortunately, this film is sterile and ultimately delivers nothing that can pull you in, which the show at least manages to do with its humor. Restoration eventually transforms into a slightly impotent spectacle that doesn't provide anything special.

If you like mockumentaries and found footage films, you may not mind this, but I think that Episode 50 is one of those films that is basically unnecessary because it just repeats what has already been said. Even if there is a relatively good idea in there, it still doesn't turn out to be anything, and it's just punching weak fists into the void.

To be honest, I didn't think I could still enjoy the series, but if I ignore the beginning and end of the series, there were episodes that were either good or so outlandish that I was entertained by their bizarreness. It's still funny in places and I'm glad for that. This is one of the few shows where I would almost prefer if the main characters didn't develop in any way. Or at least develop so that they don't keep dying and coming back from the dead.
