Areumdawoon geodaeege (2012) (Serie)

Englisch I'll admit that I started watching this series mostly out of curiosity. It took me a while to get into it and kind of digest the wild atmosphere. Not even a dog would have been convinced the main character was a boy, but if the viewer wants to be entertained, they just have to go along with the game. The actors seemed pretty unnatural at times, but I forgive them anyway because despite all the mistakes and clichés, I always looked forward to the next episode. Plus it has a very nice soundtrack. 3.5 stars.

Rooftop Prince (2012) (Serie)

Englisch Park Ha and the crown prince are for me one of the most beautiful couples I've ever seen in Korean TV shows. Both characters have wonderfully fleshed out personalities that make them impossible not to love. I had never seen Micky act before, but I'm afraid no one else could top him for this role. I already knew Han Ji Min, but it wasn't until here that she seemed completely open to me. The prince's companions were a nice change of pace, especially in the early episodes. Later on, they were more for headcount, but still in ideal doses. The hell on earth for our heroes was served up by two characters that the creators really went all out on. But I can't say who was worse, him or her. Another huge positive is the wonderful soundtrack, which plays a very important role in Korean TV series. As my review suggests, I'm thrilled. 5 stars.

Siti hyunteo (2011) (Serie)

Englisch City Hunter rests on a great plot and especially on the amazing Min-ho Lee, who we, his fans, just love. I found Nana pretty bland at first. But later on I fell in love with her because of her attitude towards the whole thing. It just bothered me that the writers made her a fragile flower girl for a while and a martial arts master for a while after that. Just whatever suited them. But such flaws are common in movies and TV shows. I had a similar experience with the soundtrack. At first I wasn't really into it, but by the end I became totally addicted to it. Even though I told myself about ten times that this dorama is overrated, I still give it 5 stars in the end. And yes, I admit, Min-ho Lee's eyes play a part in it.

Gugaui seo (2013) (Serie)

Englisch 24 episodes have slipped by, and I guess I'll be searching in vain for a replacement. Gu Family Book is without a second thought one of the best doramas I've ever seen. And I'm willing to bet that nothing will top it this year. The combination of Seung-gi Lee and Suzy would never have occurred to me, but they worked incredibly well together. Suzy is a great main character who never bored me for a moment. Seung-gi Lee in the role of Kang Chia is exactly the kind of performance I think suits him best. And then there are the other amazing characters. Like the naval commander Yi Sun-sin and the charismatic brothel madame. There's also Gon, who is played by an actor I don't usually like, but I was happy with him here. And I can't forget our amazing, good and bad dad. The development of the plot kept surprising me. And because there were so many stories, I wasn't bored for a moment (and I mean that literally). The soundtrack here wasn't just one pretty song and twenty more to serve as background. There are several of very nice songs here. I'm thrilled with the ending, which some didn't like very much. I couldn't have imagined a better one. It will stay in my head like this for a long time. 5 stars.

Cheongookeui namoo (2006) (Serie)

Englisch I don't think any Korean dorama has been as hard for me to rate as this one. Nearly perfect scenes were interspersed with scenes that got on my nerves. There wasn't a single episode where Hanna didn't cry. Sometimes I cried with her, sometimes I had to turn her off for a while. Wan Lee gave a great performance, especially in the first 3 episodes. His character was the most interesting of the entire series for me. At times it was 5 stars, at times it was 2 stars. As a whole, I think it deserves a weaker 4 stars.

Banchangggyo (2012)

Englisch When a film is based on two great actors who are also an awful lot like each other, the story can afford to limp a little (but really only a little). Hyo-joo Han surprised me unexpectedly. I last saw her in Spring Waltz from 2006, but this goofy role definitely suited her a lot better. It was her character above all that made for some great comic scenes in the beginning. Soo Ko is getting better every year. I'm already looking forward to enjoying him in Green Rose.

Jigeum saranghaneun saramgwa salgo issumnika? (2007)

Englisch After My Wife Got Married by the same director, this seems like a pretty normal movie to me. I was expecting it to be kinkier, and I'm pleasantly pleased that it wasn't. It made it all the more real. The acting seemed pretty balanced to me. I believe there's something for almost everyone here. A nice film, 4 stars.

Anaega kyeolhonhaetda (2008)

Englisch I'd consider the whole thing impossible and absurd, but the fact that it's Ye-jin Son completely changes the situation:) No, I don't get either of them, but I don't think anyone wants me to. I was interested to see how the writers would ultimately make their way out of it; in the end I think they did pretty well. Joo-hyeok Kim can handle similar roles and even suits it, but in Couples, for example, which I saw recently, he appealed to me more. The second husband could have gotten to talk a little more.

Naui P.S. pateuneo (2012)

Englisch Once I fall in love, I lose my sense of objectivity. And since this is the case, I'll curb my enthusiasm and cut it short. I was pleased with how open yet not at all vulgar the film was. The main couple have great characters and are perfect for each other. I didn't consider a single one of the supporting characters unappealing either. The soundtrack is also exquisite. I've just finished watching it and I'm itching to watch it again, and that's what the love of film is all about. 5 stars.

Iris - Season 2 (2013) (Staffel)

Englisch No miracles may have occurred, but I'm certainly not disappointed. The story is more tragic compared to the first one, but they didn’t always take full advantage of it. I would have liked more love scenes, a proper bro friendship, and a reason to root for NSS. Most of their characters were bland, with no personality. Da-hae Lee got off to a solid start, but after the 6th episode, it was like they pulled her off as the main character and put all the other female actresses in her place. Hyeok Jang seemed so real. Yeah, that's what I think a person who's been through something like this would look like. The hood, the way he walked, and the cold look on his face... I believed it. It's a paradox, but my favorite character ended up being the one I cursed first and foremost. And it was his fate that I found the most interesting of all. The music was mostly carried over from the first one, which I'm glad for. Even the few extra pieces were pleasing to my ears. This series doesn't have the same feel as the first IRIS, but it's still IRIS; and there was no shortage of scenes that knocked me on my ass and made my face wet.
