Franco Piavoli

Franco Piavoli is born in Pozzolengo (Italy) in 1933. He begins making short films in the 1960s, and in he 1982 makes his first full-length feature, Il pianeta azzurro, presented at the Mostra del Cinema in Venice. He follows that with Nostos: The Return, screened in Locarno in 1989, while in 1996 Voci nel tempo, again in Venice, brings him the FEDIC Award. In 2002 he competes in Locarno with At the First Breath of Wind, and in 2016 the Cinema du réel mounts a complete retrospective of his work.
