Biografie

Emmy award wining director with more than 20 years in the animation industry. He developed his passion for animation in Granada, Spain then he settle in Madrid where he worked on award-winning commercials for VFX studios like Miopia, Molinare and Stromboli, company he co-founded in 1997. He joined Blue Sky Studios as an animator in 2000, where he worked on its first feature film, Ice Age. Rodrigo was fortunate to work for Pixar and worked on projects such as Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Wall-E and others, many of them Academy Award Winners. One of his most gratifying experiences was working on the Academy Award nominated short film La Luna. He debuted as a director with his short film, Alma, the short won more than 15 international awards. After 9 years at Pixar, Rodrigo partnered with Guillermo del Toro to develop Trollhunters. Currently he is the Showrunner and Executive Producer of Trollhunters, the show won 6 Emmy awards in its first season. Including for best directing for Rodrigo Blaas in conjunction with Guillermo del Toro. He is also Showrunner of two series of the Trollhunters saga called The Tales of Arcadia.
