Biografie
Robert Webb grew up in Lincolnshire and was educated at Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School, Horncastle and then Robinson College, Cambridge where he studied English. Whilst there, he was a member of the Footlights Dramatic Club where he met David Mitchell and the two formed a double act performing their 2-man comedy shows on the London and Edinburgh Fringe. As writers they worked on Armstrong and Miller, Big Train and The Jack Docherty Show, and then began to perform their own sketches on Comedy Nation and Bruiser.
In 2003 Webb co-starred alongside Mitchell in the first series of Peep Show, playing the dysfunctional flatmates, Mark and Jeremy. The show has won many awards including 2 BAFTAs and the hugely successful and highly acclaimed final 9th series, has recently aired. Commencing around the same time, their own sketch show, That Mitchell and Webb Sound was commissioned for BBC Radio 4 and later, That Mitchell and Webb Look for BBC2. The latter ran for 4 series and won the 2006 BAFTA for best Comedy Programme as well as assorted RTS awards, British Comedy Awards and the Variety Club award. In 2013 they co-starred in a new comedy drama series, Ambassadors, which aired on BBC2.
Webb's solo acting credits include the feature films CONFETTI, MAGICIANS and THE WEDDING VIDEO and for television, starring roles in "The Smoking Room", "Blessed", "The Bleak Old Shop of Stuff" and a number of guest leads in other series including "Miss Marple".
Webb made his West End debut in Neil LaBute's play "Fat Pig" at the Trafalgar Studios and subsequently played the title role of Bertie Wooster in "Jeeves & Wooster Perfect Nonsense" (2014) and Roy in Tim Firth's "Neville's Island" (2014), both at the Duke of York's.
Webb has appeared on various entertainment shows such as "Never Mind the Buzzcocks", "Have I Got News for You", "Celebrity Mastermind" and "Q"I. In 2009 Webb made an acclaimed documentary about the poetry of TS Eliot called "My Life in Verse" and in the same year won the final of the charity dance completion "Let's Dance for Comic Relief", giving a memorable interpretation of the audition scene from the movie, FLASHDANCE Webb can be found reading Winnie-the-Pooh stories for Disney Junior and is now a regular presenter of the CBeebies Bedtime Story.
