Screenwriter, director and producer Helena Taberna has directed five features and numerous shorts. Yoyes (2002), received 15 awards at festivals worldwide. The documentary Extranjeras (2003) competed at the Seminci in Valladolid. La buena nueva (2008) won the Audience Award at the Nantes Festival and earned Unax Ugalde Best Actor at the Seminci. In 2010 she premiered the documentary Nagore, acclaimed in its presentation at the Seminci and winner of the Audience Award for Best Feature Film at the Islantilla Cinefórum Festival (Huelva) in addition to the Violeta Award for Cultural Commitment. In 2006 she founded, with other female directors, the Association of Women Filmmakers (CIMA).
