He started a career in advertising. As an advertising creative he has won very important awards at San Sebastián, Florence and Cannes festivals. In 1998, after a transition period, he finished the script of Smoking Room, an independent feature film project which was finally shot in 2001 and which became the revelation of that year, been awarded, among other prizes, the Goya to the best new director. At a later date he has directed the short film La simetría (2003).
