Biografie

Lourdes Grobet was born in Mexico City on July 25th 1940. Even though her major interest is experimentation, she worked as a camera operator in Canal 6 de Julio. She also documented lots of events. Lecturer at the annual convention of the Society for Photographic Education in San Diego California, Yale University Gallery, Stanford University in California and at the Cultural Center at San Jose California. She has also worked as teacher and director of many workshops at Columbia College, Chicago. She recently presented her work at the seminary called "Mas alla de las fronteras" at Standford University, California. She obtained funds from the Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes (Mexico) on three occasions. She has also had art residences at Banff Centre for the Arts (Canada), Yaddo and MacDowell (United States) and Bellagio (Italy). She received support from the Fundacion de la Secretaria de Cultura (Mexico City) and from Quai-Branly Museum (Paris) for the crossing over of the Bering Strait. She has also had the financial support of Instituto Mexicano de Cinematografia (IMCINE) for the development of the documentary Bering Strait (2012).
