Biografie

Michel Marc Bouchard is one of Canada's most distinguished and celebrated writers. He has written more than 25 plays which have all been performed around the world and in many languages, most frequently in Japan and Italy.

He has received many awards (the Mavor Moore Award, Chalmer's Award, National Arts Centre Award, Betty Mitchell Award, Prix du Journal de Montréal, Critic Associations Awards from many countries, Primo Candoni (Italy) and le Prix de la SACD-Paris for his play, TOM A LA FERME. He has written 6 screenplays for which he received numerous nominations and awards.

He received the Laurentian Bank Award for his play DES YEUX DE VERRE. He has received grants for his works from the Canada Council for the Arts, the Ontario Arts Council, Québec's department of culture and Fondation Beaumarchais, Paris. He has held the position of writer in residence at the Théâtre de Quat'Sous and at the Théâtre du Nouveau Monde in Montréal, at New Dramatists in New York, at the Banff Center for the Arts in Alberta, at the Festival de Limoges in France, at the University of Ottawa and at the Teatro della Limonaia in Florence. The feature films, LES FELUETTES/LILIES, TOM À LA FERME/ TOM AT THE FARM and the television adaptations of his plays L'HISTOIRE DE L'OIE/THE TALE OF TEEKA received many awards in and outside of Canada. Michel Marc is an Officer of the Order of Canada and Knight of the Order of Quebec.
